Seabees Invader

These Invader newspapers were published in 1944 during World War II by the 114th / 146th Navy Seabee Battalions. They were saved all these years by my grandfather who was stationed in Iceland, Ireland, and Great Britain during the war.  They’ve wound up in my care, and I’ve scanned them as best I could to preserve them and so that others would be able to enjoy them. I’m sure almost all of these men have passed away by now (early 2022) but there is a listing of service members’ names and addresses in each issue that allowed the men to connect with each other after the war in case anyone is interested in exploring further.

The jokes and cartoons are some of my favorite pieces as it shows the lighter side of their tremendous dedication.

Please let me know if you enjoy these or if you had a relative in the Seabees!
